Dog friendly circular walk

Please note that dogs will need to be on leads at all times in order to avoid the dangers of quarry cliff edges and the occasional adder.

Dog friendly nature trails at Via Ferrata Cornwall

There are some fantastic dog walks near Penryn and Falmouth and our nature trails are no exception! The entrance for the trails is at the Via Ferrata Cornwall carpark (which is free) and the routes wind through diverse habitats from grassland to forest and wet woodland. Our circular nature trail lasts about an hour and includes a 360 degree viewing point where you can enjoy views over the Falmouth Bay and the Lizard Peninsular. The route also passes the zip wire finale of our Via Ferrata adventure. This is perfect for watching loved ones soar through the air! Another highlight is our Bluebell Woods, which look stunning in the flowering season. For a longer walk, you can continue on to the bottom of the valley and join the public footpath to Argal Reservoir.

There’s plenty of wildlife to spot – both in real life and on our interpretation boards dotted around. This makes these walks perfect for young children through to adults! Amongst the birds, squirrels and rabbits, we’ve even spotted the occasional red deer. We also encourage wildlife by planting trees and working with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust to preserve the habitats.

Dog friendly Café

Cafe overlooking the quarry at Via Ferrata Cornwall

Dog walks with a café nearby are always the best! Just across from the nature trail entrance, The Cornish Barista’s Quarryside Café is the perfect place to relax with your four legged friend whilst treating yourself to some delicious food and drink. They’re big on using locally sourced ingredients and their cake is impressive! They also offer amazing lunches, making this one of the best dog friendly places to walk and eat.

Dog friendly viewing areas

If your loved ones are enjoying the Via Ferrata activity with us, there’s a viewing platform near the bottom of the Café where you’re welcome to watch with your dog and take photos. This is an excellent spot for seeing your group take on the 70m long high wire bridge!

Whilst you’re walking and chilling with your furry friend, there are a whole lot of adventure activities on offer. From Via Ferrata (an epic high wire adventure with a zip wire and the chance to scale cliff faces), to watersports, SUP, rock climbing, coasteering and archery, this is a great place to come for a family day out if some of you want to be adventurous whilst the rest want to enjoy a dog walk and lunch.

Dog friendly campsite

Fancy a camping holiday with the dog? We offer child and dog friendly camping on a budget. Please note that you’ll need to make sure the pitch you select is dog friendly. Our convenient site offers clean, covid-safe amenities, with a washing-up area, clean toilets, hot showers and free Wi-Fi.

Tent in camping field

Our peaceful site is only a 20 minute drive from Falmouth. The nearest supermarket is just a 10-minute drive away and you can enjoy a BBQ on-site. Alternatively, The Cornish Barista’s Cafe serves delicious breakfast, lunch and cakes!

We’re thinking of the planet, and much of our site’s electricity comes from a wind turbine and solar panels.

We look forward to seeing you and your furry friends soon!
