Café with wild play
The Cornish Barista – Quarryside
Enjoy spectacular views at the café, with wild play areas and adventure trails in the making!
The Café is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, whether or not you’re trying our adventure activities! Run by The Cornish Barista, it’s big on using locally sourced ingredients and offers vegan options. Got little ones? We’re developing nearby wild play areas for toddlers and children, so soon you’ll be able to grab a coffee then explore! We’ve also got adventure trails for the whole family to enjoy.
The Café is open to all and is dog friendly! So, feel free to drop in even if you’re not joining us for adventure sessions! Locals get free parking too.
You’re making a difference by using our Café! We offer work experience and training, particularly to the young people that our launching charity BF Adventure supports. 10% of sales also go to this charity!
Café with amazing views
We offer delicious coffee, cakes, breakfast, brunch, lunch and takeouts with vegan options!
We’re certified by AA and We’re Good to Go to operate as a covid-secure establishment. Choose from a selection of homemade cakes, soups, sandwiches, pasties and more! Our ingredients are locally sourced.
Our Café has outdoor seating and overlooks our quarry, so if your friends or family are trying our Via Ferrata, you can watch them in action! It’s also a great way to see what a Via Ferrata is if you’re considering it! We encourage people to book in advance, but there may be space on the day if you’re lucky. Our quietest times are often at the start or end of the day – here are the opening times.
Wild play areas – coming soon!
Are you looking for fun wild play activities for your children? Let your kids swing through the trees on our ropes or go wild in our muddy play area!
We’re a huge fan of mud – science has shown its crucial role in building strong immune systems, something that’s needed even more now in our sanitised world. Plus, there’s growing evidence to say that it increases our serotonin levels (we always knew it!). So, why not let your kids get creative and use their imagination with their own mud play ideas! Whether they’re measuring out ingredients to make mud cakes, building sculptures, throwing mud balls or even working together to create an entire village, they’re sure to have a fun and happy time, no matter their age. What better way to help your children learn and fall in love with nature! You can grab a take-out coffee and cake and explore and play with them.
Adventure trails in nature!
Want to unwind, get back to nature and explore? Check out our beautiful adventure trails for kids and adults!
We worked with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust to develop exciting nature trails that take you through our diverse habitat zones.
Our remote site is full of amazing wildlife. Check out our bug zones, grassland area, forest and wet woodland whilst learning amazing wildlife facts with our interpretation boards!
Amongst the squirrels, birds and rabbits, we’ve even spotted the occasional red deer. We’ve proactively encouraged wildlife by introducing five full hives of bees on-site and planting 400 trees. We find tones of frog spawn in our quarries each year too!
Our café is currently open for table service and takeaways every day from 10am to 4pm. For updates, follow @thecornishbarista on Facebook.
Our wild play areas and adventure trails are also open daily, 10am – 4pm.
